About Kent Removals Ltd, a county-wide removals firm
Kent is too large and too varied to treat as one town. This page explains how we work across all of it, and where we think a smaller local firm would serve you better.
What is a county-wide removals firm for?
Mostly, moves that cross Kent. Take a Sevenoaks house bound for a village beyond Canterbury: gravel drive and heavy oak at one end, a lane barely wider than the vehicle at the other, and the length of the M26, M20 and A28 between. Split between two firms, that is a handover waiting to go wrong. Planned as a single job by one crew, it is straightforward.
It is also the moves that leave the county or arrive in it, and the European work that our position near the Channel crossings makes natural. Our address is on Terminal Service Ring Road in Folkestone, beside the Channel Tunnel terminal at the end of the M20.
How we work
Nobody prices a move they have not seen
A figure given over the phone from a bedroom count is a guess dressed up as a quote. Someone looks at the volume, the access and the stairs first, at the house or by video call.
The county is one patch, not several
From the Thames side to the Marsh and from the Sussex border to Sandwich. A move from one end of Kent to the other is planned as a single job, never handed between two firms halfway.
Some local work goes to local firms
A few Kent towns have dedicated removals firms who know their streets better than any county firm can. For moves entirely inside those towns, we say so.
Wrapping comes before carrying
Blankets on upholstery, corners capped, mirrors and glass crated, clothes moved on the rail. Nothing leaves a room unwrapped, however short the journey.
Anything that could change the price is written down
A parking suspension, a smaller vehicle for a lane, an extra pair of hands, a lift booking. It all goes on the quote with the reason, so nothing comes up for the first time on the morning.
The towns we send work to
A firm that works one town every day knows things we cannot: which alley floods, which street has a market on a Thursday, which block's concierge does not answer early. If you are staying within one of these towns, start with them.
- Tunbridge Wells: Spa-town villas, the Pantiles and the streets around the Common.
- Folkestone: Moves that start and finish inside the town itself — the Leas, the old harbour streets and the hillside terraces.
- Herne Bay: The resort front, the pier end and the bungalow roads inland from it.
- Whitstable: The oyster-town alleys and the Tankerton slopes, where only a small vehicle fits.

Why are there no prices on this site?
Deliberately so. Any number we printed here would have been written without seeing your stairs, your loft or your street, and a number like that tends to come back as a dispute on the doorstep.
What you get instead is a survey and then a quote on paper, listing the work covered, the things that would alter the figure, and how a moved completion is dealt with. That is more honest than a headline price that fits nobody's actual house.
What we will not do
Clearance work, since disposing of goods is licensed waste work and we are not licensed for it. Pianos, safes and fine art needing more than ordinary crating, which belong with specialists. Nor do we take moves that start and finish inside London; a firm based there handles the boroughs' bay suspensions far better.
Saying so loses us the odd booking and saves everyone a bad day.
Getting more than one quote
Please do. Put three questions to each firm: where does the lorry stand on my street, whose hands wrap the furniture, and what is the plan if completion is delayed? A written quote that answers all three is worth more than a cheaper one that skips them.
