Privacy policy
Written to be read rather than to satisfy a template. If anything here is unclear, ask and we will put it in plainer words.
This policy sets out what Kent Removals Ltd does with personal information collected through this website and in the ordinary course of quoting for and carrying out removals, packing and storage work across Kent.
Who is responsible
Kent Removals Ltd is the data controller. Questions, requests and complaints go to hello@kent-removalsltd.co.uk, where a person reads them rather than an automated system.
What we collect
When you ask for a quote
Your name, phone number, email address, the pickup address, the drop-off address, an optional moving date and optional notes. Nothing on that form is collected for any purpose other than answering your enquiry and, if you go ahead, carrying out the work.
When you ring or email
Whatever you choose to tell us, plus the contact details you use. Where a survey takes place we record the volume, the access and the surveyor's notes — the stairs, the lane, where a vehicle can stand.
If goods go into storage
An inventory of what is held, the storage agreement, and the contact details needed to reach you. We must be able to identify you before releasing anything, so these are kept while the goods are with us and for a period afterwards for accounting and claims.
When you simply read the site
Standard server logs — IP address, browser, pages requested — and, where analytics is enabled, aggregate measurement of which pages are read. No advertising trackers and no cross-site profiling.
Why we are allowed to hold it
- To answer your enquiry. You asked; replying is what you expect.
- To perform a contract. Once you book, your details are needed to do the work.
- Legitimate interests. Records of jobs quoted and completed, protecting our staff and vehicles, and understanding which pages of this site are useful.
- Legal obligation. Accounting and tax records have retention periods set by law rather than by us.
Spam protection
The quote form uses Google reCAPTCHA to separate genuine enquiries from automated ones. That service receives technical signals from your browser and is governed by Google's own privacy terms.
Who else sees it
- Our hosting and email providers, processing data on our instructions.
- Insurers, where a claim is made.
- Customs authorities and clearing agents on a European move — the inventory and residence documents are the basis of clearance and cannot be lodged without your details.
- Our accountant, and anyone we are legally obliged to disclose to.
We do not sell enquiry data and we do not pass details to other removals firms or lead brokers. Where we recommend a town firm for local work, we give you their details — we do not send them yours.
How long it is kept
Enquiries that do not become work are kept for a reasonable period in case you return, then deleted. Records of completed jobs are kept for the period needed for accounting, insurance and any claims window. Storage records are kept while goods are held and for a period after redelivery.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or ask for it in a portable form. Email hello@kent-removalsltd.co.uk and we will deal with it within the statutory period.
Some things cannot be deleted on request — an inventory of goods currently in store, or accounting records inside a legal retention period. We will say which category something falls into rather than refusing without explanation, and if you are unhappy you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Cookies
No marketing or advertising cookies are set here. Where analytics is enabled it sets measurement cookies counting visits and page views in aggregate; blocking them breaks nothing.
Changes
Material changes will be reflected on this page. The terms applying to a specific job are those you were given when you booked it. See also our terms and contact details.
